Finally some inspiration.
It has come to me but just in a little dosage, inspiration to write on my blog.
After reading some blogs of other people (people that I don't know but have a common friend) I got a bit of a craving to write.
But about what?
About the fact that I haven't been to the hairdressers since april?
About the fact that I actually have so much time to spare at my job that I consider writing to my blog?
or just a arbitral entry about nothing...
Let me start by noting that I am listening to LedZep and feel realy mellow and at peace.
Although no substance abuse has taken place (too bad, but I am at work)
One thing about these people here in Israel I don't get, which is basically everything.
For example, today at lunch time at the canteen they had a popcorn machine where we could indulge ourselfs on popcorn.
A nice idea but what is it with those people that feel the need to eat popcorn with their meals?
I myself thought it was there to take some back to the office and enjoy it infront of the pc, but apparently most people didn't get that, or is it just me?
anyway, I guess it was the thought that counts.
Don't get me wrong, the food here is excellent and cheep, for 15 nis we get a bouffee with al kinds of niceties.
Also something funny I found at some guy's blog, a link to a bunch of quizzes for any occasion: http://quizfarm.com/test.php?q_id=6637N
And yes, I am still a goth, although only 56% and I don't consider this bad when one of the questions was if I listened to Merilyn Manson and I answered 'Hell NO!'
Sorry, but I just don't like his music and I think he is a try-hard and the image thing of his is only to try and shock people and sell records.
Take 'Radio Head', they are giving away their new album for free because they have a real cause. http://www.inrainbows.com/Store/Quickindex.html
Or the Pixies, they were making music for the fun of it.
Those are good recipes for good music...
When the hell does my favorite LedZep song start...
I'm sure I selected the right cd??
Oh, no. 8, two more to go...Well, so much for patience... (Long live modern tech. :) )
I have been offered a trip to New Zealand from work (to work of course) and it is nearby where my brother lives and I REALLY want to go, but what do I tell the wife and the kids...
To leave her alone with a 6 months old baby (the trip is in 1 and a half months) and a 2 year old is kind of cruel. I'll have to find a solution to this...
Women and computers is a recipe for disaster...
The wife calls from home telling me that my computer is 'DAFUK'. yes, expressed in a very technical term. So I take over from work and see that my delphi was still open in the middle of debug... Can't she just press CTRL+F2... (Sorry babe, bad joke)
About books,
I think one of the most amazing books I read in my life (there are not many) is Dan Simmons' Hyperion and the Fall of Hyperion.(To get the 'most amazing' feeling you need to read both of them). The other day I finished his 'Endymion' which is the sequel (+- 245 years later), and it is just making the series COMPLETE with the sense of awe. His other books, as far as I read them, are not that much of a hit, like 'Ilium' which reads like a mix up between Homer's work and science fiction.
But I can't wait till I get 'The Rise of Endymion' in my hands...
Meanwhile I am reading Robin Hobbs' 'The Tawny Man Trilogy''s last book, 'Fool's Fate' (too many hyphens?) I like it, it is an easy read and fun in the genre of Fiction.
And she has another 2 trilogies waiting for me to read after this.
I never thought that books could be that much fun.
My first experience with reading a book out of my own will was at the age of 12 when I convinced my parents to by me 'The Lord of the Rings' in dutch.
And after reading 5 pages, I hadn't touched a book for about 20 years. Dutch can be a bitch of a language when translated from an English classic as such.
A call for help, yes, I am a needed person at my work (yeah right...)
But someone has requested my help, so I guess that this will do for now...
Enjoy whoever you are...
